Kenall provided critical engineering services associated with the rehabilitation of the Houston Independent School District Food Service Facility’s ammonia refrigeration system. This project was carefully phased to maintain continuous operation of the facility and involved the replacement of nine refrigeration compressors and one evaporative condenser, which served three freezers and four refrigerated coolers. Architectural and engineering services included site investigation, life safety and code compliance upgrades and design, code review, inspection and testing. In addition to the services provided, Kenall also managed the demolition and conversion of an existing garage space into a mechanical space to accommodate the new equipment.

The phased approach adopted by Kenall ensured that the facility’s operation was uninterrupted, maintaining continued service to students during the upgrades, demolition, and replacement processes.
