In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Southern University of New Orleans launched a significant reconstruction project, funded by FEMA, to restore and improve its educational facilities. This included demolishing the old arts and science building and constructing a modern three-story facility, part of a larger four-building plan.
Kenall played a crucial role by providing geotechnical services and testing, including core drilling, soil sampling, and laboratory testing. They developed essential design parameters for the foundation and guidelines for earthwork, ensuring an efficient and sustainable construction process. As part of the ongoing rebuilding process, Kenall’s efforts were instrumental in revitalizing New Orleans’ many K-12 and higher educational institutions.
